Migration

Post by borate »

Lots of reading on this topic, most over my head. Please describe the simplist way to accomplish this...

An IFW image of a 1TB SSD has been made. About 40GB.

A new m.2 drive is in place. Neither drive is partitioned.

Will the image easily restore to the new drive via a Linux recovery disk, just as it has been many times to the SSD, or are specific settings required?

Many thanks

borate,

I'm a little confused. Have you deleted the partitions on the 1 TB SSD?

if you're going to leave both drives in, you would probably want to use the change disk id/guid option. If you're removing the original drive, yes, restore just like before.

Old SSD will be history, replaced by the ml.2. Appears that it's gone bad.

Promising ... that the restore to the new drive will be just as it was to the old.

Thanks for the responses.
